Switching to compact fluorescents

Launching at Discovery Day 2005 in Lexington Center, we plan to encourage as many Lexingtonians as possible to switch at least one regular light bulb for a new compact fluorescent. These light bulbs are

• cheaper to run,
• cleaner for the environment,
• last up to 7 times longer, and
• now easy to find.

Update: Where to find the bulbs?

• Walgreens has 75 watt equivalent bulbs for 3 for $2! Look for them in one of the "bins" in the middle of the store. They are not on the shelves.
• Ace Hardware now has their stock of bulbs in
• Stop & Shop will probably be getting their bulbs sometime in July
• You can buy bulbs in many other places, but they won't necessarily be at the discount. Despite that, they are still a good value because of the electricity you save. Be sure to look for the Energy Star label. Here is a small selection of places we've bought bulbs:
